Time really flies. Coffeebeerian, located on Jalan Panglima Polim IX No. 8A, Kebayoran Baru, South Jakarta, celebrated its 2nd anniversary on September 4th. It is indeed a unique hangout place designed around the hybrid concept of a coffee bar and a beer stall. From the early afternoon onwards, Coffeebeerian's proprietors

Nova, Hendra and Laki got busy as they received their loyal customers, journalists, suppliers and friends until very late that night. It was a really lovely and fun anniversary party where everyone could enjoy live acoustic performance and delectable Nasi Kuning (Yellow Rice) or Nasi Tumpeng (Javanese Cone Shaped Rice), served with fried chicken, omelette and sauteed fried soybean cake, to name a few. Siomay and Tapas were also served, along with a free choice of coffees or Indonesian Anker beer. For their 2nd anniversary, the management of Coffeebeerian launched "Be Nice," a unique program on public holidays, extending a rebate of up to 30 percent for coffee orders to those customers who order by saying hello, please and smile.

The "Be Nice" program was initiated with the objective of having customers be polite when ordering from the barista. Many customers are feeling stressed, are overloaded with work or have other problems. Sometimes, they may not be used to small, simple gestures, like politeness, so they step into a coffee shop being abrasive. On public holidays, when a customer comes to Coffeebeerian, there will be a menu board on display that says "Be-Nice Day. "One coffee!" – Normal Price. "Hello, I want to order coffee, please and smile – Get 30 percent discount." Greeting each other, smiling and being nice to a barista, well, these are the politeness criteria at work at Coffeebeerian. Operations Manager Laki Gusahry states, "Being polite will not make one damned. After all, greeting and smiling are gratis, and they create a better atmosphere."

In their mission to support the local coffee farmers, Coffeebeerian offers rather unusual single origins like Enrekang (South Sulawesi), Pagar Alam (South Sumatra), Malabar (West Java) and Bajawa (Flores). These single origins are "Blue Gems," and their special characteristic is that all involve natural processes by picking the ripened cherry fruit, peeled and immediately fermented without grinding. The coffee beans impart a slight sweet and sour flavor. Coffeebeerian's latest single origin is Sipirok coffee from the foot of Mount Sibualbuali in South Tapanuli, North Sumatra. Its aroma is nutty and fruity, with a full body, low acidity and sweet flavor. Sipirok coffee can be served as espresso, or as a manual brew (French Press or V-60). There are many more choices on offer like Coffeebeerian blend, Craft Beer/Home Brewed, Coffee mixed with beer, and various finger-food. Happy Hour is every Tuesday when it's buy 2 get 1 free all day and night. Last Friday of every month, Coffeebeerian hosts "Open Mic Night" when this place is really cool and happening—a perfect spot for relaxing with friends and family, and test one's talents!
